Manage leave requests

Leave types and balances, requests, and manager / HR approval.

Leave in Cutme HR is counted in working days of the employee's shift, so weekends and days off inside the request are not deducted. Each leave type sets its yearly days, whether it accrues monthly, whether it is paid, and whether it needs one approval (manager) or two (manager then HR).

Steps

  1. Leave → Leave types: check the days per year, monthly accrual, paid/unpaid and approval steps (manager, or manager + HR).
  2. Set opening balances and carry-over with "Set a balance".
  3. Employees request leave from My attendance & leave; HR can also record leave for an employee.
  4. The line manager approves or rejects, then HR when two steps are required. The balance is deducted on approval and the days appear in attendance.

Good to know

  • A request is refused when the dates contain no working days, overlap another pending or approved request, or exceed the available balance.
  • Nobody approves their own leave. If an employee has no manager with a login, HR acts at the first step.
  • Cancelling an approved request returns its days to the balance.

Common questions

How is the balance of a monthly-accruing leave type calculated?

For the current year, accrued days = yearly entitlement × current month ÷ 12, plus any carried-over days. Available = accrued − used. For example, 21 days in June gives 10.5 accrued; with 3 used, 7.5 are available.

Is the default annual leave 21 days?

Yes. The annual leave type starts with 21 days a year, accrued monthly, with two approval steps. Adjust it to match your contracts and the labour law that applies to each employee.
