Track attendance and shifts

Shifts, manual entry, fingerprint import, employee clock-in and closing a day.

Attendance feeds payroll: absences, lateness and overtime recorded here are used when the monthly payroll is calculated. Each employee follows a shift, which defines the working days, start and end times and the grace minutes allowed before lateness counts.

Steps

  1. Attendance & shifts → Shifts: set start and end times, work days and grace minutes; tick one as default and assign others to employees.
  2. Record attendance by hand, or import from a fingerprint device: export a CSV with employee number and punch time and use "Import from fingerprint device".
  3. Employees with a linked login can clock in and out themselves from My attendance & leave.
  4. Use "Close a day" to mark anyone without a record as absent, or on leave when an approved request covers the day.
Note: Lateness counts only beyond the grace minutes; overtime is time after the shift end, or all worked time on a day off.

Good to know

  • The import file can be CSV or TXT up to 5 MB, with rows of "employee number, date and time" or "employee number, date, time". The first punch of the day is check-in and the last is check-out.
  • Rows with unknown employee numbers are skipped and listed, so you can correct them and import again.
  • Overnight shifts are supported. Grace minutes can be from 0 to 240.

Common questions

How is lateness counted with grace minutes?

If an employee arrives after the grace period, the whole delay counts. For example, with a 09:00 shift and 15 grace minutes, arriving at 09:10 is not late, but arriving at 09:45 counts as 45 minutes late.

Can the fingerprint device connect directly?

No. Export the punches from the device as a CSV file and import it. Most devices can export employee number and punch time.
