Work your sales pipeline

From lead to customer: stages, won and lost.

A lead is someone who may buy; an opportunity is a deal you are actively working. Converting a lead creates an opportunity in the pipeline, and moving it through the stages shows you, at a glance, how much business is open, how likely it is to close and why deals are lost.

Steps

  1. Leads: open a lead and click "Convert to customer" when it is qualified.
  2. Sales → Pipeline shows opportunities as cards by stage. Drag a card to move it to the next stage; the stage history is kept.
  3. Record the expected value and close date on each opportunity.
  4. Mark an opportunity Won or Lost (with a lost reason). Reporting → Pipeline Analysis and Reports show the results.

Good to know

  • When converting, you can create a new customer from the lead, link it to an existing customer, or create no customer, and choose the owner, team and target stage.
  • Dragging a card to a won stage marks the opportunity won, and to a lost stage marks it lost. A lost opportunity can be restored if the deal revives.
  • My Pipeline shows only your opportunities; Pipeline shows all the opportunities you are allowed to see. The pipeline list can be exported to CSV.

Common questions

Can a quotation close the deal?

Yes. Create a quotation from the opportunity, send it, and confirm it when the customer accepts. With the default setting, confirming a quotation marks the opportunity as won.

Who can move opportunities between stages?

Managers and Employees can move stages and mark deals won or lost. Viewers can see the pipeline but cannot change it.
